Monday, June 26:

We should be arriving in Philadelphia around 8:40 AM and will continue on to Greensboro arriving at 2:40 PM.
Please pray for NO DELAYS, good weather, that all luggage arrives, safe travels and transit through customs.

Saturday, June 24:

We will be leaving the game park today to return to Nairobi. Please pray for the McMillan's son, Daniel: as he begins a summer internship in Nairobi.

The Chapel is Completed

Thursday, June 22:

Today we finished the church pavilion construction and it was our last day of VBS. They celebrated the completion of the new church by roasting two sheep for us. There was lots dancing and singing as they roasted the goats for this special occasion. They were so thankful for everything we did for them.

Wednesday, June 21:

We are continuing church construction and VBS with the kids. We ask that you continue to pray that all team members would be a personal encouragement to Steve and Melinda McMillan, our hosts. Pray for a spirit of unity and synergy among the team and that each member and those we serve will experience the Lord's presence in a powerful way.

Tuesday, June 20:

We are continuing with church construction and VBS. Pray that the children will understand God's love for them through the parables of the Good Samaritan and the Lost Sheep. Pray for smooth and successful erection of the church shelter.

1st Day of VBS

Monday, June 19:
Today we began the construction of a church and held a VBS for children in the Akira village. Akira is comprised of a group of Turkana people out of their homeland area. A small church has started within this past year and is growing steadily.  This was our 1st day of VBS.  Our themes were the Prodigal son and putting on the Armor of God. The kids loved the kites they made as the craft today.

Sunday Happy Father's Day

Sunday, June 18:

This morning we went from Nairobi to Naivasha to attend a church service.  Naivasha is in the middle of nowhere.  The town is all dirt and sand and there is no access to water.  It is about 40 minutes to the nearest main road.  We were able to meet the town people who live in Naivasha and make salvation bracelets with the kids. The men on the team measured the grounds to start the plans for building a church in Naivasha.

Steve and Melinda

We finally made it to Steve and Melinda's! They greeted us with beautiful roses and singing. It was so cool to see zebras and antelope just roaming around on our way to their house. 

We have arrived!

We arrived in Nairobi late last night. We were all very tired so we quickly unloaded the luggage and went straight to bed. After a good nights rest, we are now enjoying our first meal in Kenya!  Photo credits - team member Anastasia

Friday, June 16th:

After a full day of traveling and an unexpected delay yesterday, we arrived in Nairobi, Kenya around 10:30 PM.  Praising that all our luggage, tools, and supplies arrived in Nairobi with the team and there was no difficulties passing through customs. Praise we had safe travels and we are ready to rest!

Qatar

We  finally arrived in Doha, Qatar (which is the capital city of Qatar) after our 7 hour delay out of Philadelphia. Now we begin our 4 hour wait to catch our flight to Nairobi - the capital of Kenya.

No eating or drinking in public for us here due to Ramadan. Ramadan is the holy month of fasting, introspection and prayer for Muslims.  Each day during Ramadan, Muslims do not eat or drink from sunrise to sunset.

Thursday, June 15:

We started our day at 3:30 AM this morning, arriving at the airport by 4:45 AM as we needed to be the first ones in line so we could get our many pieces of luggage checked in quickly. We departed the Greensboro airport, on time, at 6:45 AM to begin our 21 hour journey. Once we got to Philadelphia we found out our flight to Qatar had been delayed by 7 hours. UGH!  Now our arrival time into Nairobi will be 10:30 PM on Friday night - 9 hours later than we expected.

On the bright side of our delay, more time to enjoy Philly cheesesteaks!

Pray for good rest and team bonding while traveling.  Pray for our family members at home to experience God's peace and good health. Please pray specially for good health and peace about trip for elderly parents of: Julia Pilson, Bruce Nichelson, Mike Reese, and Nancy Johnson.

Friday, June 16: Arrive in Nairobi, Kenya, at 2:25 PM. Go to Maisha cottage in Malewa near Steve and Melinda's McMillan.

       Please pray for all luggage, tools, and supplies to arrive in Nairobi with the team.

       Please pray for no difficulties passing through customs. Safe travels and good rest.

Saturday, June 17: Go to Akira village for a dedication service for the new church pavilion to be built by the team.

       Please pray that there will be good cross cultural communication and a spirit of mutual respect and cooperation between the team and village people.

      Pray that the love of Christ will be evident.

Sunday, June 18: Rest/preparation day. We will go to a church service in Naivasha and prepare for the upcoming week.

       Pray for good rest.

       Pray that each team member would show Christ's love and respect to the people in Akira.

Monday, June 19: Begin construction of church and VBS for children in Akira village. Akira is comprised of a group of Turkana people out of their homeland area. A small church has started within this last year and is growing steadily.

       That there will be good communication and fellowship with the villagers.

       Several translators to help with VBS, village people to help with worship and singing. Much spiritual fruit produced.

Tuesday, June 20: Continue with church construction and VBS.

       That the children will understand God's love for them through the parables of the Good Samaritan and the Lost Sheep.

      Smooth and successful erection of the church shelter.

Wednesday, June 21: Church construction and VBS

       The team would be a personal encouragement to Steve and Melinda McMillan, our hosts.
 
       A spirit of unity and synergy among the team and that each member and those we serve will experience the Lord's presence in a powerful way.

Thursday, June 22: Finish church pavilion construction and VBS

       That several Turkana people will catch a vision for children's ministry and continue with children's Sunday School.

       That Turkana children will come to know Christ through VBS, and that we will be Christ's hands and feet.

      Good health and energy to finish well.

Friday, June 23: Go to Nakura Game Park and view animals

       Safe travels.

       For a sweet aroma of Christ to remain in Akira village and that the villagers will feel loved by God and us.

Saturday, June 24: Leave game park, return to Nairobi

       Remember the McMillan's son, Daniel: as he begins a summer internship in Nairobi.

Sunday, June 25: Go to church and/or baby elephant adoption center. Go to airport, leave Nairobi for Doha, Qatar.

       Please pray for safe travels and some rest on the flight home.

Monday, June 26: Arrive in Philadelphia at 8:40 AM, arrive in Greensboro at 2:40 PM

      Please pray for good weather, all luggage to arrive, safe travels and transit through customs.
